The Conference

The Black Women of the Insurance Industry Initiative is dedicated to bringing Black Women in the Insurance Industry together to harness their strength, resilience, courage, and many talents aiming to lead the industry toward meaningful change. Our signature event, the Sisterhood Conference, was created to normalize sisterhood in the workplace. When Black Women support each other, it not only fosters a positive work environment that promotes mutual growth and success but also helps them bring their best selves to their homes, workplaces, and communities.

The theme for our fourth conference, being held from Wednesday, February 19, 2025, to Friday, February 21, 2025, is “Insure. Heal. Build.” Our goal is to create a holistic approach to wellness where attendees receive comprehensive support and resources, enabling them to succeed in all areas of their lives. This year’s conference will focus on the essential elements of financial security, mental and physical health, and career development.

“Insure. Heal. Build.” underscores the power of sisterhood and the collective strength of Black women in the insurance industry. It promotes a sense of unity and mutual support, encouraging attendees to uplift each other while working towards common goals of wellness and success. By addressing these critical aspects, we aim to foster an environment where participants can thrive both personally and professionally.

The Agenda

Join the Black Women of the Insurance Industry: Sisterhood Conference in 2025!  More details to come!

As double minorities who work in an industry that has historically struggled with diversity, equity, and inclusion, Black Women are bound to experience feelings of doubt and inadequacy. We know that systemic oppression, subtle and complex bias, and a lack of representation at leadership levels are major factors in fostering these feelings as Black Women find their place “corporate America”.

But we also know that the the bond between Black Women is rooted in honesty, love, commitment, and forgiveness. The sisterhood that is inherent to who we are as Black Women has been the key to our resilience, courage and strength in our communities and in our homes.

It is the goal of the Black Women of the Insurance Industry to normalize sisterhood in the workplace so Black Women can learn to navigate and embrace their professional trauma, brand their authenticity on their terms, and work together to author their own destiny.
